Another trip back to the desert and holy smokes was it fun! Alisa reached out to me pretty last minute to document their elopement in Arizona due to COVID messing up their original plan to have a wedding in California. We talked over some locations for everything and landed on this amazing location overlooking Lake Powell where they would read their vows to one another. This location is pretty tough to get to and requires a vehicle with high clearance (which always makes it that much more of an adventure). We left Page around 5am and pulled up just before sunrise. Alisa quickly got into her dress and walked down to have a first look with Kyle. As the sun came over the horizon I kept thinking about how incredible everything was looking. My mind was blown.
The hard part with shooting at sunrise is that you're on a time crunch to shoot as much as you can, as quickly as you can in the best light. However, there wasn't much time to chat with Alisa + Kyle before beginning to shoot. We also drove separately because of COVID (duh). I applaud them for killing it in front of the camera immediately. Throughout the morning it was so fun exploring different areas of the cliffs and soaking in all those amazing views. After wrapping up at the lookout we went back to the cars and I noticed I had a flat tire. Womp womp. Thankfully the car had a spare that was identical to the others (because a donut tire would not have made it back to town, yikes). After swapping that out we were on our way back into town. We stopped along the way at a couple locations. The first one I just was looking at the mountains in the distance and thought how cool it would be with them right in front in the direct light. I don't often shoot in direct light but it was actually super awesome and I'm stoked on how those images turned out.
After making it back to Page, we went our separate ways to take a break before meeting back up at Horseshoe Bend for sunset. I love any chance I can get to hang out and take in that view. This was their first time here and it's always fun to see the looks on their faces as we walk up to it. I always make sure we spend a few minutes just taking in the view. We shot around the bend for about an hour or so before heading back to the car and calling it a night. A huge thanks to Shyn at Pacific Brides for hanging out with us all day and keeping Alisa's hair and makeup on point all day long! Before I left town Kyle was kind enough to give me a bag of bagels he made which were absolutely killer (who else doesn't love an egg and cheese bagel sandwich?!)! Enjoy the post!
